Services provided to TEMA students
Formed by the four administrative coordinators, the TEMA Secretariat is in charge of hosting the TEMA students. While most types of services are the same across all the universities, some have their own specificities. The services common to each of the universities are the following: international relations and/or Erasmus office; computer and internet access; support in the administrative and visa procedures; support in finding an accommodation (dormitory rooms or apartments in the city); healthcare insurance; access to teaching materials, including the TEMA book and CD; access to the university- and other libraries, as well as to the lounge areas and cafeterias; language courses; and a pompous ceremony for graduation. In addition, each institution offers special services for students coming with their family and for students with special needs. More specifically, the partner institutions offer the following services:
- In Budapest, the services include access to several libraries, including the library of Atelier with books in Hungarian and in French, to several lounges and cafeterias; sport and leisure opportunities; a carrier center; literature clubs; movie theatres; foreign language clubs and meetings; WiFi access at Atelier; a computer room in top of the computers of Atelier; access to the scientific databases at the Student Information and Resource Center (HIK); help with opening a Hungarian bank account with advantageous conditions at the largest Hungarian bank (OTP). The Committee of the Student Representatives plays an important role in the student life of ELTE University. Considering the fact that Hungarian is rarely spoken by foreigner students, the committee has introduced a mentor system that is based on the voluntary participation of local Hungarian students who speak foreign languages. They will support you in the administrative procedures, help you find accommodation, organize cultural programs, excursions, parties, etc. in order to ease your integration into the local life.
- In Paris, EHESS runs a student information and international exchange service, whose mission is to inform you about the different financial aid opportunities, exchanges proposed by public and private associations, and internship possibilities, as well as to spread practical information concerning access to computers, accommodation, libraries, public transportation, student jobs, etc. EHESS also runs a Hosting Service in order to help students and professors find accommodation. EHESS has a post for the mission of the student life and organizes an opening day at the beginning of each academic year. Additionally, computer rooms are also at your disposal. Internet access is free of charge. Creating an EHESS email account is highly recommended, so that you can join various email lists that circulate useful information. EHESS also offers free access to libraries and research centres, including the library of the Fondation de la Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, as well as possibilities to access other libraries in Paris. The Digital Work Environment (ENT) offers a number of digital tools and services. For instance, it gives access to webmails and forums, digital sources (JSTOR, CAIRN, Refworks, BiblioSHS, Encyclopædia Universalis, Oxford Language Dictionaries Online, Grove Art and Music online, etc.) support to lessons, the possibility to store documents and download administrative documents. The student ID card guarantees reduced prices for public transportation, museums, movie theatres, swimming pools, restaurants, etc. A sick room can also be found at EHESS.
- In Catania, you will be hosted by the office of international relations, as well as by the Erasmus office of the Faculty of Humanities. This office offers its full support in obtaining visa and finding proper accommodation. It also helps in every segment of the student life, including orientation, access to the libraries of the university, the city and the region, as well as to the national archives and research centers. Besides the compulsory language and civilization courses in semester 3, the Faculty organizes an intensive Italian language class in order to guarantee your integration in the activity of the Faculty, the University, and the city. Through this office you can easily reach several facilities that provide cultural, sport, and recreational activities. It also helps you discover the region and organizes excursions with the aim of transforming the educational experience into a rich cultural experience. In July, the Faculty organizes a closing ceremony for awarding diplomas by the Rector of the University, to which the representatives of the local communities and the local press are also invited.
- In Prague, you will be hosted by the European Office. Charles University offers accommodation in its Halls of Residence. However, if you prefer to live off-campus, the European Office will help you to find an apartment. There is also a real estate agency specialized in flat rent for students. The university has also established an Erasmus Club in order to integrate the students into the local community. In addition, the international office guides the students through the process of obtaining a visa at the embassy. The university also offers its students an opportunity to take part in intramural sport activities, worship services, as well as in English, French, and Czech language courses. An Information and Advisory Centre, a Social and Legal Advisory Center, and a Psychological Counselling Centre are also at your disposal. As a student at Charles University, you will also have access to several cafeterias, canteens, the libraries of the university, the archives of the city of Prague, as well as to a digital work space (Eduroam).
