Language policy
English and French are the languages of instruction for the TEMA European Master Course, that gives students an opportunity to practice at least two different European languages within the framework of the courses. All of the partner institutions offer English and French language courses for students who wish to improve their language skills. These courses cover general topics, as well as specific terminology of the social sciences.
For students who choose to enroll or spend their mandatory mobility period in Budapest, Catania, or Prague, the respective universities offer Hungarian, Italian, and Czech language and civilization courses, designed to ease the students’ integration into the educational and cultural activities of the institution, and into the daily student life.
Students must attend a mandatory language and civilization course during their mobility period in semester 3, provided by the hosting university. This course, translated into ECTS credits, fits into the curriculum of the TEMA Master Course and is recorded in the diploma supplement. Moreover, each university allows the students who wish to take additional language and civilization courses to enroll in such classes throughout the entire study period (intensive courses at the beginning of the academic year, or, if necessary, at the beginning of the semester, courses on a regular or an individual basis etc.). The Consortium recognizes the participation in these optional courses in the form of a certificate attached to the diploma.
The TEMA European Master Course’s structure and its mobility scheme allow the students to become bilingual, trilingual, or multilingual, as they continue to develop their English and French language skills, and acquire new skills in the language(s) of the host countries.
